From 9/11, to IMF protests, activism, El Salvador, the silent revolution of Bitcoin and Bitcoin education. John is an impactful freedom lover. You’ll love this one!
I love Efrat's podcast, and while I find all of her guests interesting, John is particularly fascinating. I was super impressed seeing him speak at and organize the Unconference in Nashville this summer, and after listening to this episode, I cannot put into words how amazing and inspiring his perspective on life is. There were SO many amazing quotes and thoughts in this episode, I literally took notes! Simply cannot recommend this episode enough! Thought I would share some of the quotes/thoughts that really resonated with me. (I believe portions are from Efrat's replies). But do yourself a favor and listen to the entire episode!
"I am no longer trying to slow the bad, but rather I’m trying to speed up the good... I'm attempting to make the bad irrelevant”
“You’re free, so long as you don’t challenge the status quo”
“There is something liberating about being put in a cage for your beliefs…you can’t control how I think or how I feel… you haven’t changed my mind, I still feel the same way" (on being arrested at an IMF protest when he was 19)
"This system will not reform itself…people think they can change the system from within (but you can’t)"
"The legacy world is on an unsustainable path… we are speeding towards a cliff, and if we don’t build wings, we are going to crash. But if we do build wings, we can launch off the cliff and go to a much higher place"
"As long as you are just shouting at the old, you have that baggage with you. You need to do some mental work and drop that baggage so you have the space to start building something new"
"I wouldn’t do anything for money that I wouldn’t do for free"
“If you really want to live in a different future… you have to be uncomfortable in the present”
"If you want to change the world, you can’t seek success and measure success in the current world or we will succeed in a dying world and not create a new one"
"Scaling is all about growth… scaling by giving up control"
Hope this is helpful, but there is so much more in there if you listen to the entire episode..
