Another amazing episode Efrat! Absolutely loved it. I sound like a broken record in my comments, but you truly do have the most fascinating guests. I knew a little about the Bitcoin Ekasi project before watching this, but not nearly enough. And I didn't know much about Hermann personally. I actually Felt bad that I didn't know more before this. He is an inspiring person who is doing truly amazing work. I found the history of how his business started accepting Bitcoin in the early days due to Fiat/banking rails getting rugged really interesting, and how he continually stressed the importance of using Bitcoin as a MOE first, then a store of value (not to mention him stressing the MOE aspect as what is truly giving you freedom from oppression and control). His explanation of how Bitcoin is illegal in some countries in Africa, while others are basically attacking self custody by trying to force people to leave it on exchanges due to rules about transferring it outside of the country super interesting. I loved his perspective on how injecting Bitcoin into the community is critical to kickstarting a circular economy, and the challenge then becomes keeping it there and not having it traded back to Fiat. Hats off to Hermann for all the work he is doing with kids in his Surfer kids program. Truly amazing and inspiring stuff! I watched the documentary you linked to after your episode and it gave me even more insight to the awesome work they are doing. I have a keen interest in circular economies and the use of Bitcoin as a MOE, so this episode really resonated with me. Cannot recommend this episode enough!
